New Macs to drool over

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

Apple have today announced updates to their product line. You can now get a 24″ iMac! They’ve also added a 17″ base model which drops bluetooth and the apple remote, and the 20″ imac is now less than a grand. They all feature the latest 64bit Intel processors that are just waiting for all the cool features in the next version of OS X codenamed Leopard, due for release early next year.
The mac mini’s procesors have been updated but the prices stay the same.
Still no updated macbook pros though.
I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised at the update news, as I hadn’t expected it till next week.

FlickrExport iPhoto plugin

Wednesday, September 6th, 2006

I’m using an older, free version of FlickrExport plugin for iPhoto. I happen to notice that the latest version released 25 Aug is now £12. I’m a naturally lazy person. It’s a real effort to get me to take pictures. It’s an effort for me to upload them onto the computer and it’s even more of an effort to share them with family and friends. It’s really where iPhoto on the Mac really shines.
I plug in the camera.
click The photo’s are imported.
click They’re in an album.
click I’m watching a slideshow with moving images.
And with FLickrEXport I just select the photos I want and select the File-> Export menu option.
Then click the Export button on the screen that pops up and voila - my photo’s are in flickr (it signs in for me).
Now it’s debateable whether my photo’s are worth sharing, but the truth is, if it wasn’t as easy as Apple and the guys at connectedflow have made it, that question would be irrelevant because there wouldn’t be any of my photo’s to debate.

A couple of Birthday cake photo’s from Pip’s party and two from Faith’s party are on flickr. NOt very imaginative I’m afraid, but they all had a good time even if it was exhausting for us parents!
